@fireandrewpat i do this too. my reasoning may differ from his, but for simplicity sake i want to have a single swing motion. irons you want to hit down on it, so i strike at the bottom of the arc. i play my club back from the ball with my driver so i can take this same swing and don’t have to compensate my stance, motion, etc. With the club further back, i have completed the bottom of the arc with the same swing, and strike the ball as the club is swinging upward. less thoughts the better
@fireandrewpat sorry this comment is a year after you posted yours… but he does this because you are supposed to hit the ball on your upswing…placing the face of the club directly beside the all is what can cause a slice as your center of gravity is forward.
shawn is a very good teacher ive check many of his lessons out and a very good player for sure , thanks shawn , check my swing out at hitmanhawky
when you rest the head of the driver behind the ball your leaving it a good 6 ” away from the ball . strange
